Diagnostics and logs

Current Projetex workstation logs use the shared AIT log root when it is available:

C:\ProgramData\AIT\Logs\Projetex\

If that location cannot be used, the workstation falls back to the per-user Debug Logs folder under %LOCALAPPDATA%\AIT\....

Projetex Server services are not all migrated to the shared log root yet. Some server-service logs can still remain beside the services under the Projetex Server data folders.

Workstation logging has two separate controls:

  • -l turns logging on;
  • the log level controls how much detail is written.

Starting Projetex with -l uses the default INFO level unless another level is configured.

For one diagnostic launch without changing machine-wide settings, set:

PROJETEX_LOG_LEVEL=DEBUG

and start Projetex with -l.

The first line of the workstation log records the effective level and where that setting came from.

After you reproduce the problem, return to the normal INFO level.

For a problem that happens very early during startup, AIT Support may ask you to set:

PROJETEX_STARTUP_TRACE=1

This can enable the startup trace even without -l. The startup trace flushes each line, which makes it useful for startup hangs or forced termination.

Use this only for diagnosis and remove the override afterwards.

From most to least detail:

  • DEBUG
  • INFO
  • WARN
  • ERROR

An invalid or missing level falls back to INFO.

The Cloud Server always logs. Its level is read when the service starts, so a level change requires a service restart.

Cloud Server logs rotate daily. Current service configuration supports retention, with 30 days as the default in the current implementation.

Installer logging is separate from application logging. If setup fails, keep the setup log from that installation attempt because it may contain prerequisite and database-tool output that is not present in the workstation log.

Before sending diagnostics, review filenames and log content for customer data. Do not include licence keys or unrelated customer documents.
